Monroe Network News, Tuesday, 09.29.15, 'A' day


THE FIRST “MEN’S CHORUS” REHEARSAL WILL TAKE PLACE TODAY AT 2:10PM IN THE CHORUS ROOM.  IF YOU ARE A GUY AND YOU LIKE TO SING, COME AND JOIN MEN’S CHORUS.  REHEARSALS ARE EVERY TUESDAY AFTERNOON AFTER SCHOOL.  SEE MS. ALAGNA OR MS. KLEIN WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

all new ice hockey players must attend a meeting after school on Wednesday, September 30th in room G-136. The meeting will last about 45 minutes. If you cannot attend, please see Coach Minter in room G-136.

What do smartphone apps and rebuilding small engines have in common? Come to Tech Club to find out, This Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in room H-124.

FCCLA will hold its first meeting this Thursday, October 1st at 2:00 pm in room F-130.  Anyone enrolled in a foods, culinary, working with children or fashion class is invited to attend.

The first Key Club meeting will be held this Thursday, October 1st at 2:30 PM in the Right Lecture Hall. If you would like to be part of the club you must attend this meeting.

The MTHS Red Cross Club will hold its first meeting on Thursday, October 1st, from 2:05 PM to 2:35 PM in Room F-327.

MTHS has a competitive robotics team. Come to the Robotics Club to learn robotics and event management with Mr. Snow this thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in room H-124.

Spanish Honors Society will hold its first meeting on Monday, October 5th at 2:00 pm.  Current members and new inductees should meet on the steps outside the auditorium. You will then be moving into our assigned lecture hall for the meeting.  The meeting will last for about an hour.  Please make every effort to be there!

National Art Honor Society will hold its first meeting after school Monday, October 5th in room H103. It will last until 2:30pm.

Science Honor Society will be holding its first official meeting on tuesday, October 6th at 2:15 PM in the Left Lecture Hall.  This is a mandatory meeting for all members.  Students interested in applying should attend or see advisors Mr. Tolboom or Mrs. Puleio.

The next academic team meeting will be Tuesday, october 6th after school in Room G-247.the team will sign up for the MAST tournament and practice, as well as collect money for dues and a t-shirt.

Interested in taking a college course in Art, writing, dance, theater, video and more?  There will be a short informational meeting regarding Arts High on Thursday, October 15th directly after school in room G-156.

The Senior Class will sell Bagels and Muffins every Tuesday morning in the cafeteria.  Bagels are one for $2.00 and two for $3.00. Muffins and water cost $1.00 each.

The World Language department has moved its after school language lab from Mondays to Thursdays from 2:15 to 3:15 in room F-306. Tutoring is available in Italian, French and Spanish.

The College and career counseling center is sponsoring a trip to the Historically Black Colleges and University Fair, to be held on november 19th at Raritan Valley Community College. The trip is only open to eleventh and twelfth grade students.  Please sign up in the counseling center, as space is limited. See Mrs. Rockoff or Mrs. Peterson if you have any questions.

Attention Seniors: Now is the time to upload your “Friends Forever”, “Remember When”, and “Glow Up” pictures for the yearbook. You should have received a notice in your Language arts classes on how to do this. The submission Deadline is October 16th. Please note that if the yearbook does not receive enough pictures, these pages will be eliminated altogether.

The Challenge Day Program will be held at monroe township high school on October 27, 28, 29. Students may attend one day from 7:30AM to 2:00PM.  students must report to the school gymnasium by 7:20AM.  Lunch will be provided on that day. To participate, students must complete a permission slip, which can be downloaded from the CCCC website. Permission slips must be returned to the college and career counseling center by October 15.

Are you undecided about your future career goals?  If so, you may want to consider taking the “ASVAB”, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.  “ASVAB” is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program run by the military, however, there is no military obligation. The test will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 8:00 AM in the Media Center. Sophomores, juniors and seniors can now sign-up in the College and Career Counseling center. The deadline is November 16th. For more information, please see Mrs. Stasi in the Senior Option office located inside the media center.
