Monroe Network News, Tuesday, Oct 22, 'A' day


The varsity girls tennis team has improved its record to an amazing 10 and 1.  Come out and support the team TODAY as they compete against rival North Brunswick for the white division title.

There will be a meeting of the Young Science achiever's Club today at 2:00 PM in Room F-218.  The club will conduct experiments with microwave popcorn, followed by a movie.

Come play a game of chess and challenge your skills.  Even if you do not know the rules of chess – we will teach you! The Monroe High School Chess Club will hold its next meeting of the academic year on Tuesday, October 22th, 2013, from about 2:20 - 4:20 PM  in room F327.

The next SHS Board Meeting is today after school in G-208.  All board members should plan to attend.

DECA will be holding a meeting TODAY at 2:10 in Cafeteria “B”.  This will be your last chance to sign up for DECA. The club will also discuss the Regional conference and the 76ers trip. All membership dues and forms must be turned in by October 24.

Girls interested in coming out for Winter Track must attend a mandatory pre-season meeting TODAY at 2:10 in room F-338.  see Coach Jessop with any questions.

JAZZ DANCE TEAM AUDITIONS FOR NEW AND RETURNING MEMBERS WILL TAKE PLACE TODAY, WITH A POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL DAY TOMORROW TO AUDITION ALL SKILLS.  If possible, DANCERS SHOULD COME WITH DANCE SHOES AND DRESSED TO DANCE.  ALL DANCERS MUST TURN IN A COMPLETED PHYSICAL AND CONSENT FORM BEFORE THAT DATE.  THE AUDITION SCORING SHEET IS AVAILABLE AT BWOLK.WIKISPACES.COM UNDER THE JAZZ DANCE TEAM LINK.

The MTHS Table Tennis Federation will hold a tournament on Thursday, October 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Commons. Come to compete, cheer on your table tennis hero, or just to smash a helpless ping pong ball across the table.

THE NEW JERSEY SCIENCE LEAGUE IS A COMPETITIVE SCIENCE ORGANIZATION THAT IS UNIQUE IN BOTH THE STATE AND OUR NATION.  STARTED IN 1962, THE LEAGUE NOW OFFERS FOUR MAIN COMPETITIONS CONSISTING OF EXAMS IN BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS, AND EARTH SCIENCE FOR ALL STUDENTS.  IT IS THE OLDEST CLUB IN OUR SCHOOL. THE FIRST MEETING of the MTHS science league, which will be A SIGN-UP AND INFORMATION SESSION, IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24th AT 2:10 PM IN ROOM F327. ALL ARE WELCOME.PLEASE SEE MR. Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have a meeting on Thursday, October 24th at 2:15 in room F-306. all are welcome, so Bring a friend.

Want to shred some gnar with the Roon-dog, Jessop and Tolboom?  Do you want to beat Mrs. Puleio or Mrs. Mackenzie down the mountain? Then come to the ski club meeting on Thursday, October 24, from 2:10 until 2:45 in room F-315.  All new and returning members must attend.

students interested in trying out for Winter Sports must see the nurse by October 25th to get paperwork and make an appointment. Physicals will be given on October 31st.  Even athletes who already had a physical must get an update.

the Academic Team is meeting on Tuesday, October 29th at 2:10 in Room G-247. The team will be planning for the next competition. Hope to see you there.

The Varsity Soccer team beat North Brunswick in a 4-0 shutout last Thursday, which also happened to be senior night. The team thanks the seniors for their hard work and dedication.
Scorers were Vinny Fernandez, john Cosenza, with a double shot from Aleko Vastardis. Assists were provided by Dave durski and alex Fernandez. Goalies Ryan sosnak and Tyler Utheim had 2 and 3 saves respectively.

Congratulations to the Marching Band for placing second out of 12 bands from throughout New Jersey at the State Championships held last Saturday at Rutgers University. The band also received the award for the best music in the competition.

Are you undecided about your future career goals?  If so, you should consider taking the “ASVAB” test, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.  ASVAB is a comprehensive career exploration and planning program run by the military, however, there is no military obligation. The test will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at 8 a.m. in the Media Center. The sign-up sheet is located in the College and Career Counseling Office. The deadline for signing up for is November 15th. For more information, please see Mrs. Stasi in the Senior Option office located inside the media center.
